The Tooth & Surface Specific (TSS) System is the world’s first fully anatomic matrix system. TSS matrices have all the complexities of anterior teeth built into each matrix, such as cingulum shape, incisal embrasures that match the unique shapes of the mesial and distal of incisors, and the three facial planes of maxillary incisor teeth: gingival, middle and incisal thirds. The above features and benefits are only possible when the matrix is designed for each side of each incisor tooth.
The TSS Matrices are an advanced anterior matrix system designed to help dentists restore anterior decay with precision and efficiency. Its patented facial and lingual overlap technology provides superior adaptation and contour for more natural, esthetic results. The TSS Kit includes tooth-specific matrices for teeth #11–23 mesial and distal and universal matrices for small and medium lower incisors. Because each tooth is uniquely shaped, the two matrix sizes allow for differentiation and adaptability—functioning like an expandable form to achieve a precise fit. Small and medium diamond wedges ensure secure placement and optimal contact. The TSS system simplifies anterior restorations, reduces chair time, and delivers consistent, esthetic outcomes.

Q: Does the TSS kit come with wedges?
A: Yes, the kit includes small and medium diamond wedges.
Q: Does the TSS kit essentially replace the original Bioclear Anterior kit i.e. A101, 201 etc?
A: Yes. Together with the BT kit they will replace the original Bioclear Anterior kit. Doctors will need both kits. TSS will not work for black triangles, peg laterals or diastemas.
Q: Will the original Bioclear Anterior Matrices be discontinued?
A: No, the original Bioclear matrices will not be discontinued. We will continue to sell both the 50 micron and 75 micron (HD) versions of the original Anterior matrices indefinitely. It is still an excellent matrix. However, we suggest for doctors new to Bioclear to focus on the BT and TSS systems for anterior teeth and Evolve for posterior teeth to simplify the messaging and to move dentists to our best matrices where they will have the highest chance for clinical success.
Q: Is it ok to use the BT matrix for all anterior teeth and skip using TSS?
A: The pink BT is a decent all-around matrix for all anterior restorations. However, once a doctor tries the TSS matrix for restoration of teeth with a normal papilla (no need to close a black triangle or diastema) they will understand why the TSS is a smart choice.
