The Metal Dento-Infusor™ tip is an essential component of Ultradent’s tissue management system, used for delivering hemostatic agents to the sulcus. Its padded brush end is used to scrub and rub the hemostatic into the cut capillaries, providing profound hemostasis.

  • Places hemostatic agents precisely
  • Effectively removes superficial coagulum
  • Blunt, bent cannula with padded brush enables gentle pressure on the sulcus
  • Ultradent’s first tip, the “MDI” remains paramount for successful tissue management
  • The new Comfort Hub™ design has larger wings for easy attachment and removal, providing a secure, gentle grasp of the tip
  • Single-use only

The Metal Dento-Infusor tip is ideal for delivering:

Tissue Management Technique - Step by Step

    1. Burnish the hemostatic agents firmly against the sulcus until bleeding stops. (No more coagulum forms.)

    1. A blunt, bent cannula with padded "scrub brush" enables infusing and cleaning in the cut sulcus.

    1. Apply firm air/water spray to remove residual coagulum and test tissue for quality, profound hemostasis. If bleeding continues, repeat infusion technique.

  1. After complete hemostasis has been reached, excellent retraction is achieved through the use of Ultrapak™ knitted cord.

Placing Hemostatic Agent

Metal Dento Infusor Clinical

The Metal Dento-Infusor tip infuses hemostatic agents into capillaries, forming a cork-like “plug,” then wipes coagulum away.

Metal Dento Infusor Clinical

Subgingival preparation results in a bleeding sulcus. The Metal Dento-Infusor tip rubs hemostatic agents firmly against bleeding tissues to immediately arrest bleeding and to provide profound hemostasis.

The Making of the Metal Dento-Infusor Tip

Dr. Fischer designed the earliest version of the Metal Dento-Infusor tip in the basement of his home in Utah. In one of his lab experiments, Dr. Fischer pulled an IV syringe from his supply cabinet, cut off the needle point, and used an orthodontic tie wire to pull a retraction cord through the needle. Using orthodontic pliers, he then bent the needle into the shape the MDI tip still comes in today.

Designed for Profound Hemostasis

The Metal Dento-Infusor tip is specially designed with a blunt, bent cannula and a padded brush end. The tip’s first-of-its-kind design is ideal for delivering hemostatic right where it’s needed in the capillary openings.

Still the Best

The Metal Dento-Infusor tip was the first tip in what is now a complete line of specially designed delivery tips. Even after all these years, the Metal Dento-Infusor tip remains paramount for profound hemostasis.

Ultradent’s Tissue Management system continuously sets the standard for superior control and predictability. Confidently achieve any level of hemostasis with Ultradent's line of Tissue Management products.

Dr. Dan Fischer – History of Astringedent Hemostatic
Watch as Dr. Dan Fischer discusses the history of Ultradent’s first hemostatic agent, Astringedent hemostatic, and how the Metal Dento-Infusor tip for the first time allowed him to achieve profound hemostasis by delivering Astringedent hemostatic into the cut capillaries.

“I've used the Dento-Infusor tip for over 10 years and couldn't practice without it—great product!”

Dr. George Hoffmann – Piedmont, SC

The Metal Dento-Infusor tip is available in 20-pack (Item Number: 752561), 100-pack (752562) and 500-pack (752563) quantities.

Q: Applying pressure to the sulcus and scrubbing and rubbing seems counterintuitive to me. Wouldn’t that technique cause even more bleeding?

A: We admit that it does seem counterintuitive at first. But years of quality hemostasis achieved with this technique has taught us that it truly does work. Scrubbing and rubbing the hemostatic into the cut tissue infuses the solution into the capillary openings, and the brush end of the Metal Dento-Infusor tip removes the excess off the cut tissue so that the only place where coagulum remains is within the cut capillary opening. A diamond bur rotating at a half million RPMs will cut connective tissue and epithelium, but the soft padded-brush end of the Metal Dento-Infusor tip will not. In addition, coagulum may accumulate around the tip, but by rubbing and scrubbing, the solution moves down within each cut capillary opening, plugging and sealing it off. Within 1 or 2 minutes, you will notice no new coagulum forming. You know the capillaries are sealed, and you know the bleeding is stopped. Should it take longer than 1 to 2 minutes, we suggest using a stronger hemostatic like Astringedent X hemostatic agent.

Q: I’ve seen other tips like the Metal Dento-Infusor tip for sale from other companies. Why should I stick with the original?

A: It’s true that other companies have created tips based on the advanced design of the Metal Dento-Infusor tip. But these tips are not manufactured with the same quality as the original Metal Dento-Infusor tip. When you purchase tips of a lower quality, you will likely find many defective tips in the pack, which can be frustrating — not to mention expensive. The more tips you end up throwing away, the more money you end up wasting. Take it from others who have learned the hard way: don’t settle for knockoffs!
